Study

Onboarding and Gamification Reflection

The design of a sequence of activities for onboarding reminds me of how games lead players through a sequence of tiny steps, introducing game mechanics and a narrative.

Andy Goodman/Question Is the narrative distracting, confusing?

Andy Goodman/Question How might this be improved?

Structure Reflection

I created and deleted a lot of preparatory structure that was overcomplicating the process of onboarding.

Consider the aims:

Facilitate onboarding. FACILE: make it easy. Keep it simple!

Act

Follow the PDSA Cycle. Act

I didn't initially! I got lost in detail, thinking about affordances for the future.

I didn't adhere to aims, and ended up deleting superfluous structure.
